Once weekly usage passes 75%, Claude Code shows "You've used 75% of your weekly limit · resets in Xd" and it stays there until the limit resets. Closing it only lasts for the current session, and there's no setting or env var to turn it off.
If you regularly use most of your allowance, that's several days every week with a warning on screen that you already know about. It sits right above the prompt input, so it's hard to ignore.
This has come up before in #55572, #72994, #79994 and #85191. All of them were closed by the stale bot rather than declined, so it's never been properly looked at.
An option to hide it would be appreciated.

For comparison, here's how other usage limits handle warnings:
The common pattern is to warn once, near the actual limit, or let the user choose the threshold.
Microsoft's "Get Windows 10" campaign (2015–16) is the benchmark for hostile nagging. It pestered Windows 7 and 8 users with repeated upgrade prompts, and in 2016 Microsoft changed the dialog so that clicking the red X, which everyone understands as "no thanks", actually scheduled the upgrade. Microsoft later admitted it had gone too far, and a small business owner in California won $10,000 in damages after an unwanted upgrade broke her PC.
Same request from the claude.ai web app (chat composer and the Cowork "New session" composer), 9 Oct 2026.
The "Approaching weekly limit" banner with "Get more usage" sits above the input on every conversation. Dismissing it with the X only lasts until the next conversation or reload, so it returns constantly.
I already track usage in a separate window (Settings > Usage). The banner adds nothing for me and is pure clutter above the place I type.
Ask: a setting in claude.ai Settings to turn off usage warning banners (or at least make the X dismissal persist until the next threshold or the weekly reset). Hard limit reached messages can stay; the "approaching" warnings should be optional.
