Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

The latest version of Claude Code bundles permissions for "accept edits" (fine) with "common file commands" (bad, vague, dangerous). This has basically killed my development velocity because I can't approve auto-accepting edits without also giving Claude a vaguely-defined dangerous bundle of permissions.

What Should Happen?

Please separate these back out. "Change the contents of an inert file" is nowhere close to "execute random commands" in terms of safety or reliability. Please fix this velocity-killing bug.

Error Messages/Logs

2. Yes, and switch to accept edits (auto-approve file edits and common file commands) for this session (shift+tab)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Tell Claude code to do something
  2. Wait until it needs to edit a file
  3. Watch it ask to edit inert content and also execute commands in one inseparable prompt
