Environment: Claude Desktop app
What the UI shows:
- GitHub account connected (green check)
- Claude GitHub App installed (green check)
What's actually happening:
- All GitHub tool calls fail with a generic error, no permission-specific message
- Fails even on a public repo (anthropics/anthropic-sdk-python) with no auth required beyond the connector's own token - rules out a scoping/private-repo issue
- Suspected cause: my GitHub personal access token expired a few days ago. I generated a new one on GitHub's side, but the Claude connector has no way to reflect that.
Steps already tried (no effect):
- Disconnected and reconnected the GitHub Integration in Claude Settings multiple times
- Checked for SSO org-grant requirement - not applicable to my account
Request: please check whether my account's stored GitHub token/refresh token is stale on the backend, since the UI reports "Connected" but the stored credential appears to not be valid.
What were you trying to do?
I am trying to connect to Github, this worked before my token expired.
What happened instead?
All GitHub tool calls fail with a generic error, no permission-specific message
