Claude 2.2553.13 (16e20e): Unable to view or download files in remote SSH sessions

What's Wrong?

The Claude desktop app in the past three weeks went through updates and changed version numbers from 1.5+ to 2.2+.
Users would expect that major and long-standing and always reproducible bugs would be addressed.
But unfortunately this is not the case.
When connected from the macOS Claude desktop app 2.2553.13 (16e20e), it is still not possible to view or download CSV, XLSX, PNG and PDFs etc. generated by code in the working directory, but the output (CSV, XLSX, PNG and PDFs) are in a path beyond the working directory.

While frontier model intelligence is getting better every 3 to 4 months, example Fable 5 and Fable 5.1, and Opus 5 and Opus 5.5 (today), and users are provided anecdotes of Claude performing fixes and migrations in whole codebases of hundreds of thousands of lines of code, it is surprising that this basic feature is still missing from the Claude desktop app.

What Should Happen?

Several types of output files are very frequently generated in scientific research on remote machines. Access to these files is a must have feature/functionality in Claude Desktop app.
It should be possible to view or download these files.

This feature works as expected, both viewing and downloading, in the macOS ChatGPT/Codex desktop app version 26.917.51856.

Steps to Reproduce

Let Claude send any file from the remote machine into the chat, clicking on the file tries to open it in the built-in viewer.
But that triggers the error.
