Remote (cloud) session: project skills from .claude/skills are missing from the / slash-command menu
Summary
In the Claude Code desktop app, the / slash-command menu of a remote (cloud) session does not list the project skills that live in the session's own checkout (.claude/skills/). Only built-in, account and plugin skills appear. The same project skills appear normally in the / menu of a local session on the same repo.
The remote session itself is fine: the skill directories are present in its working copy, and the agent can use them. Only the client-side autocomplete is missing them.
Repro
- Have a repo with project skills committed in
.claude/skills/<name>/SKILL.md(mine has 6 namedverify-*). - Open a local Claude Code session in that repo, type
/verif→ project skills are listed. - Open a remote/cloud session on the same repo + branch, type
/verif→ no project skill is offered; the menu falls back to plugin/account skills (cloudflare:turnstile-spin,claude-mem:mode-creator,mattpocock-skills:triage,deep-research).
Expected
The / menu of a remote session lists the project skills present in that session's checkout, the same way a local session does.
Evidence gathered
Inside the remote session:
$ pwd; ls -d .claude/skills/verify-*; git log -1 --format='%h %ad' --date=short
/workspace/sourcehub
.claude/skills/verify-ai-chat
.claude/skills/verify-ai-run
.claude/skills/verify-backend
.claude/skills/verify-cockpit
.claude/skills/verify-cockpit-feature-map
.claude/skills/verify-cockpit-pr-proof

- cwd is the repo root, the skill dirs exist, HEAD is current — so this is not a stale checkout or a wrong-cwd problem.
- The skills are plain committed directories (not symlinks, not gitignored), with valid frontmatter and
descriptionwell under the length limit. /reload-skillsin the remote session:Reloaded skills: 87 skills available (no changes)./reload-skillsin the local session on the same repo:Reloaded skills: 164 skills available (no changes).
So the two sessions resolve different skill sets, and the delta on the remote side is exactly the sandbox-only source: the project .claude/skills/ directory.
Workaround
Typing the full name (/verify-cockpit) or asking in plain English ("use the verify-cockpit skill") still works — only the autocomplete is affected.
Environment
- Claude Code desktop app (Code tab), macOS 15.6 (Darwin 25.6.0)
- Remote session running in the cloud sandbox at
/workspace/<repo> - Model: Opus 5
