💡 Likely answer: A maintainer (bcherny, collaborator) responded on this thread — see the highlighted reply below.

I am not sure exactly what triggers this, but after using for a bit, I will get an error like:

⎿  API Error: messages.3.content.0.text.citations: Extra inputs are not permitted

After that error, no further conversation is possible until closing and restarting the client. I will update if I can determine what triggers the error specifically.

Can confirm it seems to always occurs after rejecting a suggested edit

Update(file_path: business_svcs/file.js)…
⎿ User rejected update to business_svcs/file.js

can you confirm that this will not have any uninteded effects on behavior or flow

⎿  API Error: messages.5.content.0.text.citations: Extra inputs are not permitted

Seeing this as well - rejected an edit and couldn't continue with the session.

Seeing the same behaviour:

⏺ Bash(cd frontend && npm run dev)…
⎿  No (tell Claude what to do differently)

> That looks fantastic!!!
⎿  API Error: messages.33.content.0.text.citations: Extra inputs are not permitted

> Are you online?
⎿  API Error: messages.33.content.0.text.citations: Extra inputs are not permitted

After rejecting an Action/Edit, you can't continue.

I also ran into this, running through bedrock. It seems to happen fairly frequently as well.

Also finding this issue. It happens whenever a command is cancelled, or when "No (tell Claude what to do differently)" is selected.

Confirmed this with internal contacts in AWS which I believe are in contact with Anthropic, Bedrock does not support citations and there is not a known flag for disabling this currently
