Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Environment
Claude Code: 2.1.250
Client: Claude desktop app (Code tab)
Remote hosts: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm), Linux 5.4 x86_64
Connection: sessions running on two different remote machines, reached from the same desktop app
What happens
I work on two different remote machines. Both mount the same shared network filesystem, so a given repo has the identical absolute path on both:

/mnt/<shared-mount>/script/<repo-name>
In the desktop app's session sidebar, all of these sessions are collapsed under a single project group:

<repo-name> · /mnt/<shared-mount>/script
○ Hello <- running on host-A
○ <session 2> <- running on host-B
○ <session 3> <- running on host-B
○ <session 4> <- running on host-B
...
The first session is on host-A; the rest are on host-B. They are unrelated sessions on unrelated machines, but the sidebar presents them as one project's session history. There is no visual indication of which machine a session belongs to, so it is impossible to tell them apart without opening each one.

What Should Happen?

Expected
Sessions running on different remote machines should not be merged into the same project group — or, at minimum, the group header / session rows should show which machine each session is on, so identically-pathed projects on different hosts stay distinguishable.

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

Steps to reproduce
Have two remote machines, A and B, that mount the same shared filesystem (NFS or similar).
Check out the same repo at the same absolute path on both — e.g. /mnt/shared/script/my-repo. (Because it's a shared mount, this is the same path by construction, not a coincidence.)
Start one or more Claude Code sessions in that directory on host A.
Start one or more Claude Code sessions in that same directory on host B.
Open the desktop app and look at the session sidebar.
Result: sessions from both hosts appear under a single my-repo · /mnt/shared/script group, with nothing indicating the host.
