Desktop app: status-bar ring no longer reflects the session's context usage
Where: Claude Code desktop app (macOS), status bar, the small circular indicator next to the model name / plan badge.
What I see: the ring is filled ~15% while the same popover reports "Context window 709.2k / 1M (71%)". The ring's fill matches the "5-hour limit" figure (16%) instead.
What I expected: the ring used to show the CURRENT SESSION's context usage, which is per-session information. The 5-hour limit is account-wide and is already shown in the popover; putting it on the ring gives no information about the session I am looking at.
Why it matters: I run many sessions in parallel and rely on the ring to see, at a glance, which sessions are approaching compaction. With the ring tied to the account limit, every session shows the same value and the signal is gone.
Environment: Claude Code desktop app, build 2.1.26x (per the in-app version), macOS 26.x, Max plan (20x), Fable 5.1 selected. Popover screenshot attached.
Ask: either restore the ring to the session's context usage, or make the ring's meaning configurable / labelled.
(Popover screenshot available on request; the numbers above are read from it verbatim.)
