Preflight Checklist

  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

The "Connect new sessions to Remote Control" setting (Settings → Claude Code → Local sessions) is toggled off, but every new local chat still automatically enables Remote Control as soon as the first prompt is sent — the session header icon flips from the local (monitor) icon to the Remote Control (blue) icon, and the Remote Control popup on that icon shows the toggle already on.

Environment:

Platform: Claude desktop app (Code tab)
OS: Windows 11 Pro
(Please fill in: app version — found under Settings → General or Help → About)

What Should Happen?

Expected behavior:
With the global setting off, new sessions should stay local-only until Remote Control is manually enabled per session.

Actual behavior:
Remote Control turns on automatically for every new session on first prompt, regardless of the global default. I have to manually toggle it off in each chat.

Steps to Reproduce

Steps to reproduce:

Go to Settings → Claude Code → Local sessions.
Confirm "Connect new sessions to Remote Control" is off.
Click "New" to start a fresh chat.
Note the session icon shows local (monitor icon) before any prompt.
Send any prompt.
Icon changes to the Remote Control (blue) icon.
Click the icon → popup shows "Remote Control" toggled on, with an "Open in default browser" link and a claude.ai/code URL.
