Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Was logged in, using the CLI fine on a remote host.

Was prompted to update Claude Code desktop app, now I can't login.

What's new is that I'm seeing a ton of traffic from the Claude application to Google, analytics, adsense domains, trackers. That's just on launch, it says I need to log in again for my safety, but it doesn't actually let me - it just spins because I do not allow connections to doubleclick and so forth.

Likewise, the app tells me now others can remote into my machine and write code - and this is why I need to sign in or now add a passkey. But it seems the reverse, data is leaving my machine just running the app.

Is the design now tied tightly into these tracking domains? I paid for Hulu without ads, I cannot stream a video because they have it tightly integrated, you must allow all third party trackers. This in an app I'm paying for, that's giving away access to my machine without my permission and also sending data to people I've never agreed to - while telling me it's now unsafe and I need to add a passkey.

I can't even log into it. Is the answer really that I can't control traffic and my data to use the tool?

What Should Happen?

I should be able to click "Login with Google" and actually see the tab in my browser, no where else.

Error Messages/Logs

Seeing domains blocked in logs now like:

- ep1.adtrafficquality.google
- www.google-analytics.com

Etc. I understand the desire to track, but the hard failure is a losing strategy.

Steps to Reproduce

Open App, it says you have log in to protect you from the gaping security hole you didn't ask for.

Click button, it does nothing.
