Description
Attempting to sign into a Google account (Gmail) inside the Claude Desktop app's embedded Browser pane crashes the app entirely. After the crash, the app cannot be reopened until fully reinstalled.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the Browser pane in Claude Desktop
  2. Navigate to accounts.google.com / Gmail sign-in
  3. Attempt to sign in with a Google account
  4. App closes/crashes immediately

Expected behavior
Google blocking OAuth sign-in from an embedded/automated browser (a known anti-phishing measure on Google's end) should surface as a rejected sign-in or an error message — not crash and corrupt the whole desktop app.

Actual behavior

  • App closes automatically
  • App becomes unopenable afterward
  • Attempted repair and reset via the app's settings — did not fix it
  • Only fix found so far is a full reinstall
  • Reproduced 3 times total, same result each time

Environment

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro (10.0.26100)
  • Claude Desktop app, Browser pane feature
