  • OS: Windows 11 (NT 10.0.26200)

Description
User reports being on the Max plan. After selecting claude-fable-5 via the /model command, a dialog appears stating "Fable 5 requires usage credits... You don't have usage credits yet" along with a purchase button. User reports this happens both before and after upgrading from Claude Code 2.1.214 to 2.1.218. User reports the account is verified as Max plan. User reports this behavior matches an incident described on the Anthropic status page dated 2026-07-20.

Steps to reproduce

  1. On a Max plan account, run /model in Claude Code.
  2. Select claude-fable-5.
  3. Observe the "usage credits required" purchase prompt.

Expected behavior
Max plan should include access to Fable 5 without a credit purchase prompt.

Actual behavior
Purchase-credits dialog appears despite Max plan.

Note: The Max plan status and the match to the Anthropic status page incident are as reported by the user; not independently verified by the assistant in this session.
