[BUG] Cowork tab missing from Claude Desktop navigation — only accessible via "+ Novo" dialog
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
The Cowork tab is not visible as a persistent navigation element in the Claude Desktop app sidebar, contrary to the official documentation which states: "The Claude Desktop app has three tabs: Chat for conversations, Cowork for Dispatch and longer agentic work, and Code for software development."
Currently, Cowork is only accessible by clicking + Novo → Cowork to create a new conversation. The three-tab interface (Chat, Cowork, Code) described in the official docs is not present in the current UI.
Expected behavior: Cowork should be permanently visible alongside Chat and Code in the top navigation or sidebar, providing quick access without requiring an extra click through the "+ Novo" dialog.
What Should Happen?
The Claude Desktop interface should display Cowork as a persistent, clickable navigation element (tab or button) in the main sidebar or header area, positioned alongside the Chat and Code tabs, exactly as described in the official Claude Code documentation at https://code.claude.com/docs/en/desktop.
Users should be able to switch between Chat, Cowork, and Code with a single click, rather than requiring the "+ Novo" dialog.
Error Messages/Logs
No error messages. The tab is simply not visible in the interface.
Steps to Reproduce
- Launch Claude Desktop (latest version)
- Sign in with Claude Pro account
- Look at the top of the sidebar/navigation area
- Observe that only "Início" (Home) and "Code" tabs are visible
- Note that Cowork is absent from this navigation
- To access Cowork, click "+ Novo" and select "Cowork" from the dropdown
- Confirm that Cowork is functional, just not visible in the persistent navigation

Additional Information
The official Claude Code documentation at https://code.claude.com/docs/en/desktop clearly states that the desktop app should have three tabs: Chat, Cowork, and Code. However, the current UI only displays Chat and Code in the permanent navigation. Cowork is relegated to being an option within the "+ Novo" (new conversation) dialog.
Screenshots attached showing:
Current interface with only "Início" and "Code" visible
Cowork only appearing when clicking "+ Novo"
This appears to be either:
A UI rendering bug where the Cowork tab failed to load
An undocumented change in the interface design that contradicts official documentation
A regression from a previous version
