Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

In the Claude 1.21459.3 (e0f338) 2026-07-16T05:40:26.000Z app for macOS when I go to "Settings", while that settings panel is open in the app, it pegs my Mac's GPU at ~ 45%. The app is idle otherwise, no current running sessions. (Apple M2 Max)

When you click different panels in the Settings area, the GPU % spikes further to the 70-80% range. Closing the Settings panels or quitting the Claude app immediately drops it down to normal ~ 5% idle range.

What Should Happen?

Should not use so much of my Mac's GPU
