Environment
- OS: Windows 11 Pro (10.0.22000)
- Claude Code: CLI, Sonnet 5
- Chrome extension: "Claude" (claude.com), installed from Chrome Web Store, 2.7★, confirmed present via chrome://extensions ("Remove from Chrome" shown)
Problemmcp__claude-in-chrome__tabs_context_mcp and list_connected_browsers both consistently report no connected browser:
tabs_context_mcp→ "Browser extension is not connected. Please ensure the Claude browser extension is installed and running..."list_connected_browsers→[]
This persists across multiple retests over the course of the session.
Troubleshooting already done (all checked out fine, issue persists)
- Extension installed — confirmed via chrome://extensions listing (screenshot showed "Remove from Chrome" button, i.e. already installed)
- Extension toggle enabled — confirmed on
- Logged into extension — confirmed same claude.ai account as the Claude Code session (declanmcbride43@gmail.com)
- No errors shown on the extension's chrome://extensions card (checked "Errors" button — none present)
- Chrome restarted — Task Manager showed Chrome running (22 processes); restart attempted
- Retested connection multiple times after each fix step — no change, extension never appears in
list_connected_browsers
Expected behavior
Extension should appear in list_connected_browsers and tabs_context_mcp should return tab group info once installed, enabled, and logged in with the matching account.
Actual behavior
Extension never registers as connected, with no visible error state anywhere in the Chrome UI to explain why.
