What Claude Actually Did

I’m going to explain the issue here: as the title suggests, the model is exhibiting unexpected and absurdly excessive consumption. This has happened to me with both Fable 5 and Opus 4.8; for every 500 tokens, it consumes roughly 2% to 4% of my total current session usage. To give you an idea, I ran a /compact command in two sessions, and usage shot up to 71%. It is simply unreasonable—there is no logical explanation for it—and it is directly affecting me by preventing me from making the most of the final days of the Fable 5 model to finish key implementations on private and personal projects.

Expected Behavior

The behavior is fine; I just expect much less aggressive token consumption—it's absolutely insane.
