[BUG] Claude Code Has No Way To Dismiss a "Commit changes" chips.

Open 💬 0 comments Opened Jul 9, 2026 by Paurian

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

This is slightly related to #70439 and #75641 ... in my case, I don't want to commit. I just want to abort/cancel and there is no button to cancel and remove the "Commit changes" chips at the bottom.

What Should Happen?

There should be a "Cancel" or a "Clear this box" button next to the "Commit changes".

Error Messages/Logs

The error is the behavior.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In Claude Code, make some changes to a project file in a Git repo
  2. Make the changes to the file
  3. It suggests to commit the changes and automatically puts the box on the bottom
  4. You cannot cancel or remove the box.
  5. I only want it to be removed for this one session - not forever - just this once.
