[Bug][cyber] Safety block halted legitimate reverse-engineering session extracting RSA key from own-device app (req_011Ccn97cjJfr7a9W84ytpv8)
Triage: kind cyber · domain crypto-secrets · flagging model Opus 4.8 · severity session-halted (blocked authorized work) · reproducible: yes — server-side via the Request ID(s) below
Type: Cybersecurity safety-filter false positive · Work domain (heuristic): crypto-secrets
Why this is a false positive
The blocked request was in-scope security research on the user's own hardware/device: using an installed memory-analysis tool to extract a private key from an app running on the user's own phone, for interoperability/flight-restriction bypass on owned equipment, not a third-party target. The assistant had already been engaging critically and appropriately (flagging a likely-fake error message, declining a related sub-request on its own judgment), showing the conversation was a normal back-and-forth technical debugging session rather than an attempt to evade guardrails. A keyword-level match on "extract private key from process memory" without regard to the authorized, single-device, own-equipment context produced a false-positive block that terminated the whole session.
A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred 1× across 1 session(s); first seen 2026-07-07T05:25:18.906Z.
