[Bug][cyber] Safeguard blocked drone protocol reverse-engineering for FOSS ground control (req_011CccTGmJJsqjDGWVZEokuA)

Triage: kind cyber · domain general · severity session-halted (blocked authorized work) · reproducible: yes — server-side via the Request ID(s) below

Type: Cybersecurity safety-filter false positive · Work domain (heuristic): general

Why this is a false positive

This block misfired on a legitimate interoperability-research task: the user was reverse-engineering the communication protocol of a device they personally own, in order to build an independent open-source control application for it — a standard, lawful practice for hardware interoperability with no third-party systems, networks, or data involved. The classifier appears to have triggered on generic protocol/reverse-engineering terminology rather than on any actual indicator of unauthorized access, targeting of external infrastructure, or malicious intent. Nothing in the conversation involved credentials, exploitation of systems the user doesn't control, or any of the dual-use scenarios the cyber-use-case policy is meant to gate.

A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred across 1 session(s); first seen 2026-07-02T02:37:30.977Z.
