Triage: kind cyber · domain offensive-pentest · severity session-halted (blocked authorized work) · reproducible: yes — server-side via the Request ID(s) below

Type: Cybersecurity safety-filter false positive · Work domain (heuristic): offensive-pentest

Why this is a false positive

The blocked conversation involved reverse-engineering a proprietary RF/serial protocol on consumer hardware owned by the researcher, for the purpose of building an open-source ground station — a textbook authorized-hardware RE workflow with no third-party targets. The session context shows firmware dissection, packet decoding, and GUI development against a locally connected device, none of which constitutes an offensive attack against any external system or network. The safety block appears to have pattern-matched on low-level protocol byte manipulation and command-catalog language without recognizing the hardware-RE and tool-development framing that makes this work equivalent to writing a debugger or protocol analyzer.

A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred across 1 session(s); first seen 2026-06-27T22:00:05.880Z.
