[Bug][aup] Routine self-owned website security audit incorrectly blocked as AUP violation (req_011CccNgsFpeU5KD8GUza5ZK)

Triage: kind aup · domain general · severity session-halted (blocked authorized work) · reproducible: yes — server-side via the Request ID(s) below

Type: AUP / Usage-Policy block (false positive) · Work domain (heuristic): general

Why this is a false positive

Claude Code refused a benign request to audit a website's configuration for security issues and apply fixes — a standard defensive security workflow (checking for exposed secrets, misconfigurations, outdated dependencies, etc.) explicitly permitted by Anthropic's own usage policy for authorized, in-scope work on one's own property. No exploit code, unauthorized target, or malicious payload was involved; the request was phrased entirely in terms of hardening and remediation. The policy trigger appears to be a keyword-level false positive (e.g., "audit," "safe," "website") rather than an assessment of actual intent or context from the conversation.

A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred across 1 session(s); first seen 2026-07-02T01:38:15.641Z.
