Cowork: no way to invoke /usage directly — requires 3-click menu navigation

Summary

In Cowork there is no command-driven way to check usage. Unlike Claude Code where usage can be surfaced quickly, Cowork forces the user through a 3-click menu navigation to see the same information. This is poor design for something users check frequently.

The problem in practice

  • Checking remaining usage/quota is a frequent action, especially before starting expensive work.
  • In Cowork it requires navigating a menu (3 clicks) rather than a direct command or shortcut.
  • There is no /usage equivalent that the user can invoke inline.

Expected behavior

  • A direct command (e.g. /usage) or a one-click/keyboard-shortcut affordance to surface usage in Cowork, matching the speed of checking it elsewhere.

Why this matters

Usage awareness is part of responsible session management. Burying it behind 3 clicks discourages users from checking before expensive operations, which is exactly when they should.

Environment

  • Surface: Cowork
