What's Wrong?

Claude sometimes gives us a set of specific options to pick from, for example:

  1. Do X.
  2. Do Y.
  3. Do Z.
  4. Type something.
  5. Chat about this

So, there are two options (4, 5) that I can pick when I don't want to select any of the specific proposals. When I have to decide between (4) and (5), I never quite know what the difference is between those. When picking (5), Claude responds with "User declined to answer questions":

The real problem is: it immediately proceeds with Roosting and Canoodling and Flambeing, and I feel immense time pressure to type my critical feedback hoping that it still arrives in time.

I _believe_ the same happens when picking (4), I need to try that again next time.

What Should Happen?

Two improvements:

  • When I select "Chat about this", I expect to be given 'infinite' time to enter my feedback at this decision point.
  • If there is a meaningful difference between "Type something" and "Chat about this" then I am sure we can make this difference clearer in the UI, so I don't have to guess.

Is this a regression?

I don't know
