[BUG] claude hangs in update#setState idle

Environment

• Operating System: Windows 10
• Terminal: wt

Bug Description

Sometimes claude tries to open vscode and afterwards, it simply hangs .

[main 2025-08-23T12:08:43.074Z] update#setState idle
[main 2025-08-23T12:09:13.079Z] update#setState checking for updates
[main 2025-08-23T12:09:13.184Z] update#setState idle

It works when opened from within vscode all the time and 80% of time external.

Steps to Reproduce

claude.exe probably in a new directory.
