Current Documentation
The documentation currently describe source.ref and source.sha as optional fields but they don't describe what order of precedence either is given, if any.
What's Wrong or Missing?
The documentation does not describe how Claude determines which SHA to use if both source.ref and source.sha are present and point to different commits behind the scenes.
Suggested Improvement
The documentation should describe which optional value wins in the case that both are provided.

I located the version resolution docs - I think this answers the question I had about the logic behind what version gets installed but I may still not be 100% clear in how it derives what SHA to pull if version in
plugin.jsonsays "1.0.0" and there's no matching tag but that is an understanding problem on my part and I don't think it's a docs problem.Closing this - I have a better understanding of what I was missing. I was conflating update detection with new plugin installation from a marketplace.
