Bug Description

The claude-desktop-buddy README documents a Developer → Open Hardware Buddy… menu item for pairing BLE maker devices. After following the documented steps, this menu option does not exist.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude Desktop app
  2. Enable Developer Mode via Help → Troubleshooting → Enable Developer Mode
  3. Look for Developer → Open Hardware Buddy… in the menu bar
  4. The menu item does not appear

Expected Behavior

Per the claude-desktop-buddy README:

Enable developer mode (Help → Troubleshooting → Enable Developer Mode). Then, open the Hardware Buddy window in Developer → Open Hardware Buddy…, click Connect, and pick your device from the list.

The "Developer" menu with "Open Hardware Buddy…" should appear after enabling Developer Mode.

Environment

  • Claude Code Desktop version: 2.1.149
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro

Additional Context

The feature is documented with screenshots in the repo (docs/menu.png), suggesting it should exist. Possible causes:

  • Feature not yet shipped to Windows
  • Developer Mode toggle not properly enabling the menu
  • Menu placement differs on Windows vs macOS
