Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

I'm a Max 20x subscriber ($200/month), heavy Claude Code user since September 2024 (95%+ of my usage is Claude Code, ~5% claude.ai). Neither of the two announced limit increases have been applied to my account:

  1. May 6 — 2x session limit (announcement): "We're doubling Claude Code's five-hour rate limits for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans — all effective today." — Not applied to my account.
  2. May 13 — 1.5x weekly limit (through July 13, 2026): Weekly usage limits raised by 50% for all paid plans, no opt-in required. — Not applied to my account.

Evidence

This is provable from a single /usage screenshot. I started this session at 0% on all counters (fresh session, beginning of cycle). After one session of normal use:

Current session: 90% used (resets 4:40am IST) Current week (all models): 12% used (resets May 17, 12:30am IST) Current week (Sonnet only): 4% used

Screenshot attached below.

90% of one session consumed 12% of the weekly limit.
Extrapolated to a full session: ~13–14% of weekly per session.

The Math

Baseline (pre-May 6): 1 full session ≈ 1/7 of weekly ≈ 14%. This was the known ratio for months.

| Scenario | Per full session (% of weekly) | Full sessions per week | Total weekly work vs baseline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Old baseline (pre-May 6) | 14% (1/7) | 7 | 1x |
| 2x session only | 28% (2/7) | 3 | 1x |
| 1.5x weekly only | ~9% (1/10.5) | 10 | 1.5x |
| Both applied (advertised) | ~19% (2/10.5) | 5 | 1.5x |
| What I actually see | ~13–14% | ~7 | ~1x |

My numbers match the old baseline exactly. Neither increase is active on my account.

Note: The /usage gauge updates in 1% increments, so the ~13% figure is precise enough — 100/14 and 100/13 both yield ~7 sessions per week, which is the pre-announcement baseline.

Why the Weekly Limit Is Critical

The session doubling not being applied is inconvenient but manageable — I hit the session cap and wait for the 5-hour reset.

The weekly 1.5x not being applied is the real problem. It directly reduces my total weekly capacity compared to what other Max 20x subscribers are receiving for the same $200/month. I'm getting roughly 66% of the advertised weekly capacity (1x instead of 1.5x).

The 1.5x weekly promo runs through July 13, 2026. Every week this isn't applied to my account is permanently lost capacity that I can never recover. As of this filing, I've already lost the benefit for the week of May 10–16 and am about to lose May 17–23.

No Escalation Path

  • claude.ai support has no knowledge of either the May 6 or May 13 announcements. When I contacted support, it deflected to unrelated old promotions (March 2026 off-peak doubling, Holiday 2025 2x promo) and asked me to share screenshots. There is no path to reach a human.
  • My previous issue (#57146, filed May 8) about the session doubling has received zero responses in 8 days. Not even an acknowledgment.

Account Appears Selectively Affected

I have no way to verify whether this is a widespread rollout failure or specific to my account. But the math is unambiguous — my limits are identical to pre-announcement levels while Anthropic publicly states these increases are "live on every paid plan" with "nothing to opt into."

I'm at the point of seriously considering abandoning this account in favor of a fresh one — losing all settings, memory, claude.ai chat history, and continuity — simply because there's no way to get the limits I'm paying for on this account. That shouldn't be necessary.

What Should Happen?

  1. The 2x session limit (May 6) should be applied to my account.
  2. The 1.5x weekly limit (May 13, through July 13) should be applied to my account.
  3. After applying, my per-session weekly consumption should drop to ~19% (from the current ~13–14%), reflecting that each session holds 2x the work but the weekly cap is 1.5x larger.
  4. Or equivalently: I should be getting ~5 doubled sessions per week, not ~7 old-sized sessions.

Related Issues

  • #58557 — Another user seeing ~2x weekly consumption post-May 6
  • #16157 — Mega-thread on Max plan limit exhaustion (1400+ comments)
  • #54714 — Max 20x limits silently tightened (April 28–29)
  • #52135 — Max 20x weekly limit depletes disproportionately

Environment

  • Plan: Max 20x ($200/month)
  • Claude Code Version: 2.1.142
  • Platform: Linux (Ubuntu 22.04)
  • Shell: Bash
  • Model: claude-opus-4-6[1m]
  • Usage: 95%+ Claude Code, ~5% claude.ai

Is this a regression?

Yes — limits matched the expected ratio before May 6 (14% per session was the known baseline). The issue is that announced improvements never took effect.
