Bug Description
Suddenly Claude Code will not recognize agents. I can have it generate a test agent. It will create the file, but it will not show up in /agents and it will not be usable. I've tried clearing all the files, uninstall, reinstall, local and global, different versions. Everything short of an os reinstall. Nothing helps.

I have seen this happening today also and then all of a sudden they appear again not only that I've seen it actually delete the MD files for the agents. They vanish completely as well as all the Json code I have now further had to make more protections so it doesn't delete his own files
I have the same issue as the OP. can't get it to list or use the agent whether created manually or with claude code.
@sarantium @fwends check your alls version number. When 1.0.79 was released is when I started having this issue and confirmed it was still an issue in 1.0.80(haven't tried 1.0.81). Roll back to 1.0.77 and you'll be back working again
Well, I had tried going all the way back to 1.0.69 to no avail.
However, I finally cleaned out absolutely every reference to claude in my whole drive, and reinstalled with the 1.0.81 Windows native installation via
irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iexand that finally fixed it.Unfortunately, though I have my user .claude folder in a repo to help control what goes into my user level memories, agents, config, etc. I wound up deleting a few things that were in the appdata folder and I think that messed with my setup a bit. Additionally my MCPs didn't seem to work the same way afterward, but I got a new .mcp.json file set up and I think I'm back on track.
I did not relish the idea of not having all these agents I've built up available.
