Feature request: Multilingual / auto-detect language for /voice
Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened May 11, 2026 by Mlangsda Closed May 11, 2026
Hello! The /voice dictation in Claude Code is currently locked to a single language per session, configured via language in settings.json.
Use case: I work bilingually in Swedish and English, often switching mid-sentence. Right now I have to restart my Claude Code session to switch language, or pick one and lose accuracy on the other.
Request: support auto-detection between multiple languages, or at minimum a way to switch language during a session (e.g. /voice sv, /voice en).
Many transcription engines (Whisper, Deepgram nova-2) support auto-detect or multi-language input natively. Would love to see this exposed in Claude Code.
Environment:
- Claude Code v2.1.132
- macOS Darwin 25.3.0
- Languages I switch between: sv + en
