[BUG] VS Code Claude Code extension fails to respond to a prompt, with no response to attempts to cancel

What's Wrong?

Claude extension windows frequently become unresponsive or seems to stall (fail to respond, while showing the usual 'Churning...' etc) when answering a prompt. I am unable to cancel the query by clicking esc, ctrl-c, clicking the 'stop' button, etc. The only way is to close the tab window altogether - but i don't want to lose the previous thread?

What Should Happen?

tab/Window should respond to a cancellation and return to the thread.

Error Messages/Logs

None - window is completely unresponsive.

Steps to Reproduce

Enter a prompt. Perhaps related to picking up a previous thread after a long period of time/next day.

This is the VS Code Claude Code extension, not the VS Code integrated terminal (which seems to work fine)
