[BUG] Voice input: transcribed text not transferred to input field after stopping recording

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened May 3, 2026 by Naehschule Closed May 6, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

When I activate the microphone input, I can see the speech being transcribed in real time. However, when I stop the recording (release the mic button), the transcribed text is NOT inserted into the chat input field — it simply disappears. This makes the voice input feature completely unusable.

The bug occurs consistently in both Claude Code Desktop (Windows) and the Claude.ai web interface in Chrome.

What Should Happen?

After stopping the microphone recording, the transcribed text should be placed into the chat input field so the user can review and send it.

Error Messages/Logs

No error messages visible. The transcription preview appears during recording but vanishes silently when recording stops.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude Code Desktop (Windows 11) or claude.ai in Chrome
  2. Click the microphone button to start voice input
  3. Speak — transcription appears in real time
  4. Release / stop the microphone
  5. → Transcribed text does NOT appear in the input field
