[BUG] Claude Desktop app - Claude Code error (every session) - process exited with code 1

What's Wrong?

What's wrong:
Every code session in the Claude Desktop app crashes immediately with "Claude Code process exited with code 1" on the first prompt, including a simple "hi". Claude Chat and Claude Cowork works fine.

Error message:
"Claude Code process exited with code 1"

I have tried:

• Full uninstall and reinstall of the Desktop app
• Deleting all cache and hidden config folders (~/.claude, ~/Library/Application Support/Claude)

What Should Happen?

It should just work, I've not encountered this before until last night.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Go to Claude desktop app
2. Click on Claude Code
3. Send any message
4. It will fail with error

Interestingly, this works fine on my work MacBook which uses Apple Silicon.
