[BUG: Desktop app: /doctor and /bug fail with "Claude Code process exited with code 1]

What's Wrong?

CLI install is working: claude --version shows 2.1.116 (Claude Code).
In the Claude Code Desktop app, both /doctor and /bug fail with: Claude Code process exited with code 1.
No scheduled tasks, cowork, or Claude Code sessions run.
Desktop app version: Claude 1.3561.0 (fbc74b) 2026-04-20T14:59:51.000Z.
macOS version: 15.7.3 (24G419).

What Should Happen?

What should happen is: when you run /doctor in the Claude Code Desktop app, it should run a diagnostics check and show results with status icons, confirming your install, version, settings, and common config issues (like MCP server config, invalid settings files, keybindings, and plugin/agent loading).
So the expected behavior is:
/doctor runs successfully and displays a diagnosis report with status icons.
It checks things like installation type/version, auto-update status, invalid settings files, MCP server configuration, keybindings, and plugin/agent loading errors.
It does not crash or exit with an error code.

Steps to Reproduce

Open the Claude Code Desktop app.
In the chat input, type /doctor and press Enter.
Observe the result: it should run a diagnostics check and show a report with status icons.
Repeat the same steps with /bug (type /bug and press Enter).
Expected outcome: both commands run successfully and do not crash.
Actual outcome: both commands fail with the exact error “Claude Code process exited with code 1”.
Additional context: no scheduled tasks, cowork, or Claude Code sessions run.
