[BUG] Cowork and Code tabs missing on Windows 11 Pro x64 — VM never initializes despite full Hyper-V support

What's Wrong?

Cowork and Code tabs do not appear in Claude Desktop. Only the Chat tab is visible. No logs folder exists at %APPDATA%\Claude\logs — the Cowork VM never initialises. Clean reinstall performed, issue persists.

Environment:

• OS: Windows 11 Pro, Build 26200 (x64)
• Hardware: Dell OptiPlex 5080, Intel ~3101MHz
• Claude Desktop: latest clean install, April 2026
• Plan: Pro Annual

Confirmed working:

• Hyper-V Hypervisor: Enabled (verified via Get-WindowsOptionalFeature as Admin)
• vmms service: Running (verified via Get-Service vmms)
• Cloudflare WARP: Disconnected
• Standalone workgroup machine, no domain

What Should Happen?

Cowork and Code tabs should appear in the navigation bar after Hyper-V is enabled and all requirements are met.

Error Messages/Logs

No logs folder exists at %APPDATA%\Claude\logs — the Cowork VM never attempts to initialise. No error message shown in the app.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Install Claude Desktop (latest, April 2026) on Windows 11 Pro x64
2. Sign in with Pro Annual account
3. Observe only "Chat" tab visible — no Cowork or Code tabs
4. Check %APPDATA%\Claude\logs — folder does not exist
