Description

The built-in computer-use MCP server no longer appears in the /mcp server list, making it impossible to enable or use.

Environment

  • Claude Code version: 2.1.101
  • OS: macOS (Darwin 25.3.0)
  • Plan: Max (authenticated via claude.ai OAuth)
  • Shell: zsh

Steps to reproduce

  1. Run claude in interactive mode
  2. Type /mcp
  3. Look for computer-use in the server list — it is not present

Expected behavior

computer-use should appear in the /mcp list as a built-in server that can be enabled/disabled, as documented.

Actual behavior

The server does not appear at all. Only cloud-based MCP servers (Canva, Gmail, Google Calendar, Fireflies) are listed.

Additional context

  • computer-use was previously enabled and working in earlier sessions on this same machine
  • .claude.json still has "enabledMcpServers": ["computer-use"] in the project config from when it was last enabled
  • All documented requirements are met: macOS, v2.1.85+, Max plan, interactive session, claude.ai auth
  • The server was working as recently as April 11, 2026 (earlier that day), then stopped appearing after a session restart
