[BUG] Companion is rather inaccessible for screenreader users
Resolved 💬 4 comments Opened Apr 4, 2026 by garo-pro Closed Apr 9, 2026
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
When I get an answer by my companion, it vanishes quite fast. This makes it quite impossible for screenreader users to review the answers properly, as the answer also contains a lot of visual characters.
What Should Happen?
It would be a big benefit to screenreader users if there was an option to disable those characters and to make the answer stay either permanently (dismissable) or for a much longer time.

Steps to Reproduce
- Use a screenreader like NVDA.
- Open Claude Code and hatch a companion with /buddy if not done already.
- Ask it to do something, and wait until your companion says something. Try to read it with NVDA.
