[Bug] Excessive context consumption on initial Opus startup (5% of pro plan limit)

Resolved 💬 9 comments Opened Apr 3, 2026 by zellwk Closed May 15, 2026

Bug Description
Starting up with Opus eats 5% context on the pro plan. With only total 30k tokens taken up. Previous attempts don't eat so much.

Really disappointed after Lydia Hallie says there's no bug here.

I think the 1m context has a bug or something because the whole fiasco started after that introduction.

Opus is now currently unusable. Sonnet finishes way too quickly. Claude is fast becoming a large irritation because of the token burn compared to the past.
