Feature Request: Customizable companion pet/buddy with fun and cute designs

Problem Statement

Claude Code currently includes a fixed companion character (Glitcher) that sits beside the input box. There is no way to choose a different companion or customize its appearance. Users who want a different style, cuter design, or more variety in their companion experience have no options.

Proposed Solution

Allow users to choose from a selection of fun and cute companion pets/buddies. This could include:

• A gallery of different characters to pick from (animals, robots, creatures, etc.)
• Configurable via /config or settings.json (e.g., "companion": "cat")
• Optional animations or reactions to events (e.g., celebrating a successful task)
• Possibly community-contributed designs over time

Alternative Solutions

No alternatives currently exist within Claude Code. The companion is fixed and cannot be changed or hidden without modifying internal files.

Use Case Example

1. I open Claude Code desktop app each day for coding sessions.
2. The Glitcher companion is always present, but I'd love a cuter or different-styled pet.
3. With this feature, I could go to /config, pick "cat" or "penguin" from a list, and have a companion that matches my personality.
4. This adds delight and personalization to the daily developer experience.
