[BUG] 5 hour limit reached for claude code extensions visual studio code just with 4 prompts
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
I’m using the Claude Code extension in Visual Studio Code via the chat window, not the terminal. Since 30th March around 7pm (GMT+8), I’ve noticed abnormal behavior where Claude Code is consuming my 5-hour limit and weekly limit very quickly.
Previously, even with around 10 tasks per day, I would still have remaining time in my 5-hour limit, and my daily usage would only reach about 60%. However, now my 5-hour limit is already at 100% after just 4 prompts, and my weekly limit has exceeded 50%.
This is unusual and not the normal behavior. After the reset, I sent just one small task (fixing a TypeScript error) via the VS Code extension, and it consumed 12% of the limit for a single prompt.
What Should Happen?
The Claude Code team should look into the extension for Visual Studio Code (both chat window and terminal). This issue needs to be fixed, and the limits should be reviewed or reset as soon as possible.
