[BUG] Dispatch mobile sync broken — responses never return to iPhone after task completion

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Claude Dispatch receives messages from mobile, executes tasks successfully on desktop, but never returns any response to the mobile Dispatch thread. Messages show as "Read" on iPhone but no response ever appears — not for complex tasks, not even for "What's today's date?" or "Say hello."

Platform: macOS + iPhone (iOS)
Plan: Claude Pro
Feature: Dispatch (research preview)

Actual: One-way only. Desktop works, mobile receives nothing back.

What Should Happen?

Response returns to mobile Dispatch thread

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude mobile app → Dispatch tab
  2. Send any message (tested simple and complex)
  3. Message shows as "Read" on mobile
  4. Desktop Dispatch shows the correct response
  5. Mobile thread remains completely silent — no response ever appears

Claude Model

None

Is this a regression?

I don't know

Last Working Version

_No response_

Claude Code Version

N/A — Dispatch feature (Claude Desktop + iOS mobile app)

Platform

Anthropic API

Operating System

macOS

Terminal/Shell

Terminal.app (macOS)

Additional Information

Troubleshooting already attempted:

  • Force-closed and relaunched mobile app
  • Signed out of both devices simultaneously and back in
  • Confirmed both apps are latest versions
  • Confirmed desktop is awake and Claude Desktop is open
  • Confirmed pairing is active
  • Tested with simplest possible messages — same result every time

Impact: Dispatch is completely non-functional. The entire value of Dispatch is the return sync to mobile. Without it, it is a one-way input with no value.
