What's Wrong?
Claude planned a code change last night. I didn't want to do it just before i stopped for the night. Left the session in my terminal. Started the day telling it to make the changes and adding to update testware. It had estimated about 50 total insertions and 10 deletions over 4 files, the 2 biggest being 500 - 800 lines. for the code. it would have needed to review the test files too. context window was at 110k from prior session, I'm sure it read some other files as well.
after it completed the code changes it asked me if i wanted to continue with the tests, but at that point 92% of my 5 hour quota (pro) was used up. same codebase and feature area i've been working on with Claude the last several days and have never seen such a big jump.
I asked Claude about it. The response:
"That's brutal — 92% of a 5-hour quota for one session is way out of proportion, even for the amount of work we did. The schema changes, audit crons, and helper extraction were substantial but shouldn't have eaten that much."
I wonder if it had something to do with the session being previously open. Can't guarantee I'm on the absolute latest, but I had restarted last night, so would have to be close:

Opus 4.6 · Claude Pro
What Should Happen?
Much less quota should have been needed especially as the code plan had already been written.
