[BUG] If you typo `/exit` as `/ext` you get `/extra-usage`

Resolved 💬 5 comments Opened Mar 19, 2026 by dragonfax Closed May 23, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

The problem is that it worked. It's easy to make typos. Using Claude Code, you're gonna type the /exit command quite a lot practically for every single Claude session you have. The chances of leaving out a character from it are pretty easy.

In my scenario, I typed /ext by accident, leaving out the "i".

Unfortunately, this acts as the short version of /extra-usage.

Which then goes and harasses my CTO or VP of engineering for more money.

Not a good look for me.

What Should Happen?

Just an error for typing a command that doesn't exist or perhaps assuming I meant exit, as thats the more common case.

Steps to Reproduce

type /ext in claude code.
