What's Wrong?

What's Wrong?

Cowork tab permanently shows "Virtualization is not available — Claude's
workspace requires Hyper-V, but the virtualization service isn't responding.
Restart your computer to resolve this." Restarting and full clean reinstall
do not resolve it.

System Info

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Device | PC-COMEDOR |
| OS | Windows 10 Pro 22H2 |
| OS Build | 19045.6466 |
| Architecture | 64-bit, x64 |
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 2400G with Radeon Vega Graphics @ 3.60 GHz |
| RAM | 8 GB (5.95 GB usable) |
| Storage | 224 GB SSD (KINGSTON SA400S37240G) |
| GPU | AMD Radeon RX Vega 11 Graphics (2 GB) |

Diagnostic Results

| Check | Result |
|---|---|
| CoworkVMService | ✅ Running |
| %APPDATA%\Claude\vm_bundles | ❌ Does not exist |
| %APPDATA%\Claude\logs\cowork_vm_node.log | ❌ Does not exist |

Steps Taken

  1. Restarted PC multiple times — issue persists
  2. Deleted vm_bundles folder — folder didn't exist
  3. Stopped CoworkVMService, deleted %APPDATA%\Claude and

%LOCALAPPDATA%\claude-code-vm

  1. Uninstalled Claude Desktop, rebooted, fresh install from claude.ai/download
  2. Issue persists after clean reinstall

Expected Behavior

Cowork should detect Hyper-V on Windows 10 Pro and initialize the workspace VM.

Actual Behavior

CoworkVMService runs but the VM never initializes. No vm_bundles folder and
no logs are ever created. Error message suggests restarting, which has no effect.

Additional Notes

Possibly related to AMD Ryzen 5 2400G (Raven Ridge) hardware profile being
classified as unsupported, similar to issue #30997 (yukonSilver profile).
No logs available to confirm. Regular Claude chat works perfectly.

Related issues: #27316, #27384, #29532, #30997, #32588

What Should Happen?
