Code tab fails to load session while Chat and Cowork tabs work fine

Description

The Code tab in the Claude desktop app fails with a "failed to load session" error. The spinner appears, and when submitting a prompt, it shows "failed to load session." This happens on every conversation in the Code tab.

Chat and Cowork tabs work normally — only the Code tab is affected.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open Claude desktop app
2. Navigate to the Code tab
3. Observe spinner, then attempt to submit a prompt
4. Error: "failed to load session"

Environment

• OS: macOS (Darwin 25.3.0)
• Claude Code CLI version: 2.1.71
• Claude desktop app: latest version

Troubleshooting attempted

• Force quit and restarted the app
• Signed out and back in
• Cleared Session Storage and claude-code-sessions directories
• Cleared claude-code-vm and vm_bundles directories
• Cleared Cache, Local Storage, and IndexedDB directories
• None of the above resolved the issue
