Visual differentiation between user input and assistant responses in terminal UI

Feature Request

In the terminal (command line) interface, it is difficult to visually distinguish between text typed by the user and responses from Claude. Both appear in the same colour and style.

Suggested Improvement

Add visual differentiation between user input and assistant responses, for example:

  • Different text colours for user vs assistant
  • A coloured label or prefix (e.g. You: / Claude:) in a distinct colour
  • A background highlight on one side of the conversation

Context

This affects usability when scrolling back through a session to review what was asked and what was answered. Currently the only visual cue is the prompt marker, which is easy to miss.

Reported via Claude Code CLI on Linux Mint (GNOME Terminal).
