MacBook Pro M4 Pro, 24GB RAM, macOS
The com.apple.Virtualization.VirtualMachine process (Claude's built-in VM sandbox)
consistently runs at ~400% CPU, causing the laptop to freeze ~6 times per day.
Process details:
- PID accumulates 60+ minutes of CPU time
- Located at: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/vm_bundles/claudevm.bundle/
- Quitting and relaunching Claude temporarily fixes it
Expected behavior: VM should not peg 4 CPU cores continuously in the background.
