Frequent re-authentication required (multiple times per day)

Description

Claude Code requires re-authentication via /login multiple times per day. Today I had to re-authenticate twice within a single working session. This has been happening daily for at least the past week.

Environment

  • Platform: macOS (Darwin 24.1.0, Apple Silicon)
  • Claude Code version: Latest (installed via Anthropic)
  • Usage context: Long interactive sessions (2-4 hours) with MCP servers connected (Notion, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Pipedrive, Asana)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Start a Claude Code session
  2. Work normally for 1-2 hours
  3. Session becomes unresponsive or returns an auth error
  4. Must run /login to re-authenticate
  5. Repeat within the same day

Expected Behavior

Authentication should persist for at least a full working day (8+ hours) without requiring re-login.

Actual Behavior

Authentication expires after approximately 1-2 hours, requiring /login mid-session. This disrupts workflow, especially during multi-step processes where context continuity matters.

Impact

  • Breaks flow during complex multi-step tasks
  • Risk of losing unsaved conversational context
  • Happening consistently (daily) rather than occasionally
