Chrome MCP stopped working after upgrade from 2.1.19 to 2.1.27

Description

Chrome MCP (Claude in Chrome) stopped connecting after upgrading Claude Code.

Environment

• Claude Code version: 2.1.27
• Previous working version: 2.1.19
• OS: Windows 11
• Chrome: Latest stable
• Extension: Installed and enabled

Steps to Reproduce

1. Upgrade Claude Code from 2.1.19 to 2.1.27
2. Open Chrome with Claude extension installed
3. Try to use any mcp__claude-in-chrome__ tool

Expected Behavior

Chrome MCP should connect and allow browser automation.

Actual Behavior

Always returns: Browser extension is not connected. Please ensure the Claude browser extension is installed and running

Notes

• Extension is installed and visible in chrome://extensions/
• Restarting Chrome does not fix the issue
• The same setup worked perfectly in version 2.1.19
