[FEATURE] Bring back ultrathink rainbow glow as easter egg

Now that thinking budget is max by default, the ultrathink keyword does nothing.

The rainbow glow animation was a nice visual touch. Would be cool to keep it as a cosmetic easter egg - typing ultrathink triggers the rainbow effect even though it's functionally redundant.

Some of us have the sticker and miss the disco lights.

Please bring it back :) It's silly to take the magic away.

🌈 OFFICIAL ULTRATHINK™ MERCHANDISE RECALL NOTICE 🌈

I am writing to formally request a full refund on my ULTRATHINK merchandise, which includes but is not limited to:

  • 🎽 1x ULTRATHINK t-shirt (size: 42)
  • 1x ULTRATHINK coffee mug (capacity: 200k tokens)

These items were purchased under the reasonable expectation that wearing/using them would trigger rainbow visual effects in my terminal. Since the recent update, I have tried:

  1. Wearing the shirt while typing prompts
  2. Drinking from the mug with increasing intensity
  3. Combining both while whispering "ultrathink" at my monitor

None of these produce the expected rainbow glow. The merchandise is therefore defective and no longer performs as advertised.

---

I believe this is a class action situation. See also: #18884 — fellow ULTRATHINK sticker owner experiencing identical symptoms.

The ritual matters. The rainbow matters. The drip matters.

Respectfully requesting either:

  • ✨ Restoration of rainbow functionality (preferred)
  • 💸 Full refund in Claude API credits
  • 🎁 Replacement merch that says "I SUPPORTED ULTRATHINK AND ALL I GOT WAS MAX THINKING BY DEFAULT"

😔 IMPACT ASSESSMENT: Psychological & Cultural Damages

Following up on my technical report, I must document the human toll of this regression:

Measurable Quality of Life Degradation

| Metric | Before Rainbow Removal | After |
|--------|----------------------|-------|
| Joy sparked per prompt | ✨ 3-5 sparks | 0 |
| Bug tolerance threshold | High (vibes were immaculate) | Critically low |
| Sunny day frequency | ~80% | Overcast, gray, eternal |
| Will to refactor | Strong | Why even bother |
| Terminal aesthetic | Chef's kiss | Cubicle energy |

Cultural Precedent for Rainbow Significance

The removal of functional rainbows has historically resulted in catastrophe:

  • 🎵 Somewhere Over the Rainbow — Dorothy's entire motivation. No rainbow = no quest = no Wizard of Oz. Kansas forever.
  • 🌈 Reading Rainbow — LeVar Burton didn't spend decades telling us we could "go anywhere" just for rainbows to be deprecated
  • 🍀 Lucky Charms — The leprechaun SPECIFICALLY guards the rainbow marshmallows. Leprechauns don't play.
  • 🐸 The Rainbow Connection — Kermit asked "Why are there so many songs about rainbows?" Now we must ask: where did they go?
  • 🌧️ Double Rainbow Guy (RIP) — He saw a double rainbow and asked "What does it mean??" ...ULTRATHINK
  • 🦄 Nyan Cat — 60 billion views. The internet has spoken. Rainbows are non-negotiable infrastructure.

Clinical Observations

Since the regression, I have noticed:

  • Increase in coffee required to achieve baseline function
  • Tendency to stare wistfully at RGB keyboard backlighting as a substitute
  • Uncontrollable urge to grep for "rainbow" in source code
  • Dreams where the terminal glows but I wake before seeing the colors

Conclusion

This is no longer a feature request. It is a mental health intervention.

The rainbow was not a gimmick. It was a covenant — a promise that even in the depths of debugging, beauty persists.

Without it, we are merely typing into the void.

Without ultrathink my day is so much grayer, please bring it back. I love it so much <3 !PXL_20260126_223536295.jpg
