[BUG] excessively burning through tokens

What's Wrong?

[URGENT] I know this is a dupe.. But I need to mention this as it's not been raised or resolved yet. My context is compressing far too quickly, making this version of claude unusable

What Should Happen?

Tokens should not be used at such an alarming rate

auto-compact comes around in a matter of minutes, rather than hours (as it was before)

Steps to Reproduce

run /compact
run a few investigative commands
see that % left becomes < 10% far too quickly
